Eldorado High School is proud to announce that its HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) program, taught by Mr. Chad Rilying, has officially become a dual credit program through a new partnership with John A. Logan College. Beginning in Fall 2025, students enrolled in the HVAC program at Eldorado High School will have the opportunity to earn both high school and college credit simultaneously.
Through this collaboration, Eldorado High School has been approved to offer the following John A. Logan College courses: HAC 102 – Residential & Electrical Wiring, HAC 121 – Heating I, and HAC 131 – Refrigeration & Air Conditioning I.
“This new partnership is another step forward for our students and our community,” said Cody Cusic, Principal of Eldorado High School. “Providing our students with more opportunities to earn college credit while still in high school not only saves them time and money but also better prepares them for college or careers in the skilled trades.”
The dual credit program will be taught at Eldorado High School by Mr. Rilying, who has been approved by John A. Logan College, ensuring that students receive the same quality of instruction as they would on a college campus.
Students who complete this program and wish to continue their education and further develop their HVAC skills can attend John A. Logan to complete either their Heating and Air Conditioning Certificate or AAS. This program prepares students for careers in the heating and air conditioning industry. The curriculum provides theory as well as sufficient laboratory experience to prepare graduates for immediate employment. Students will be trained for competency in installing, operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining all types of environmental control equipment.
We are extremely grateful to John A. Logan for their willingness, especially Abby Porter, Jason Stutes, Catherine Hoekstra, and Aaron Carter, for their efficiency and excitement in making this partnership possible.
“We are excited to bring one of the top HVAC programs in the country to Eldorado High School,” said Dr. Kirk Overstreet, President of John A. Logan College. “This opportunity not only benefits students in Eldorado but also reinforces our strong partnership with Southeastern Illinois College. We're already collaborating to bring their CDL program to our campus, and initiatives like these are critical to building and retaining a skilled workforce right here in southern Illinois.”
This initiative reflects Eldorado High School’s ongoing commitment to workforce development and expanding career and technical education pathways for its students.
