The Eldorado CUSD #4 Board of Education has approved a capital improvement project to replace, expand, and update the press box at the Eldorado High School baseball field. The new press box will be named in honor of Jimmy Suits, a member of the Eldorado High School Class of 2007.
The project will completely replace the current metal structure and create a larger, more functional facility for students, coaches, families, and the community. Plans include expanded storage capacity, dedicated space for a concession stand, an updated press box area, and an improved overall design that will enhance both the appearance and functionality of the baseball complex.
The project will be funded through a combination of sales tax revenue and private donations.
The Eldorado High School Foundation is helping kick off the project with a $5,000 donation toward construction costs. In addition, members of the Eldorado High School Class of 2007 have already raised and donated more than $2,000 toward the project in honor of their classmate, Jimmy Suits.
“This project will impact both our baseball program and the fans that come out to support our student-athletes,” said Eldorado High School Athletic Director Jacob Griffin. “We are excited to see continued investment in our athletic facilities, but what makes this project especially meaningful is the opportunity to honor my teammate Jimmy Suits and the impact he had on the baseball program and the Eldorado community. This will be something our students, coaches, alumni, and fans can be proud of for many years.”
“Jimmy was a former classmate of mine, so this project has a personal meaning for me and for many others who knew him,” said Eldorado CUSD #4 Superintendent Cody Cusic. “Naming the press box in his honor is a meaningful way to remember Jimmy while also continuing to invest in our students and our school facilities. This project aligns directly with our Vision 2030 goals by creating modern, improved spaces that support our students, strengthen school pride, and serve our community for years to come.”
“I had the privilege of coaching Jimmy all through high school and was his head coach his senior year. Jimmy was one of the best players I have ever coached”, said Eldorado Middle School Principal and Athletic Director Billy Tippett. “ But beyond that, he was a teammate, a competitor, and a young man who left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. I was blessed to have the opportunity to coach Jimmy and watch him grow both on and off the baseball field. Although he is no longer with us, Jimmy will be smiling down on us knowing that with this press box, his memory lives on. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making this possible. Jimmy would be so proud.”
To help bring the project to its full vision, the Eldorado High School Foundation has established a dedicated Baseball Press Box Fund and is inviting alumni, community members, local businesses, families, and friends of Eldorado Schools to be part of the project.
Donations of any amount are appreciated and can be made online through the Eldorado High School Foundation or in person at Eldorado High School. All donations designated for the Baseball Press Box Fund will go directly toward the project and help provide additional improvements to the new facility.
This project is another example of Eldorado CUSD #4’s commitment to EHS Vision 2030 and the district’s continued effort to invest in modern facilities and expanded opportunities for students. These improvements are about more than updating a building. They are about creating spaces that support students, strengthen school pride, honor the district’s history, and serve the community for years to come.
Eldorado CUSD #4 and the Eldorado High School Foundation are grateful to the Class of 2007 and everyone who has already supported this project. With continued community support, the district looks forward to creating a baseball facility that honors the past while investing in the future.
