The Eldorado Community Unit School District #4 is proud to announce that all students will once again receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2026–2027 school year. In addition, the Eldorado Board of Education has voted to waive book fees for all students for the upcoming school year.
These initiatives reflect the district’s continued commitment to removing barriers to learning and supporting the academic and personal well-being of every student.
“We want every student to begin the school year with the resources and support they need to be successful,” said Superintendent Cody Cusic. “Providing free meals and waiving book fees helps reduce the financial burden on our families while ensuring that every student has equal access to nutritious meals and necessary educational materials.”
The waiver of book fees ensures that students have access to the materials they need to succeed, regardless of their family’s financial circumstances. By eliminating these costs, Eldorado CUSD #4 continues to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
The free meal program is made possible through the United States Department of Agriculture’s Community Eligibility Provision, commonly known as CEP. CEP allows eligible schools to provide nutritious breakfast and lunch to all students at no cost. The program helps address food insecurity, supports student health, and ensures that no child has to learn on an empty stomach.
The 2026–2027 school year will be the final year of Eldorado CUSD #4’s current four-year CEP cycle. During the upcoming year, the district will begin working with students and families to collect the information needed to reapply for CEP participation for the next four years.
