Eldorado High School sophomore Bronson Tippett delivered a standout performance at the IHSA Class 1A State Golf Finals last weekend, securing 14th place overall out of 112 of the top Class 1A golfers in Illinois. The state tournament, held at Prairie Vista Golf Course in Bloomington, saw Tippett hold his own among the best high school golfers in the state. His 14th-place finish is an incredible achievement that has filled the Eldorado community with pride and excitement.

Shining at the State Tournament

Tippett carded a two-day total of 153 strokes at the state finals – firing a 76 on Friday and a 77 on Saturday – on the challenging Prairie Vista course. His steady play across both days earned him that 153 aggregate, which was good enough to place 14th overall in the Class 1A, This strong finish meant Bronson was not only among the top 15 golfers in the entire tournament, but he also demonstrated remarkable consistency under pressure. The IHSA state competition brought together elite golfers from all over Illinois, and Bronson’s performance showcased his skill and composure. By the end of the final round, he firmly established himself as one of the premier young golfers in Class 1A.

Second State Appearance as a Sophomore

This marks Bronson’s second consecutive trip to the state finals, a particularly impressive feat given that he is only a sophomore. Last year, as a freshman, Tippett qualified for the 2024 state tournament as well, after placing third in both his regional and sectional. That early success gave him valuable experience on the big stage. Building on that foundation, Bronson came back even stronger this year to earn a top-15 finish at state. “Qualifying for state two years in a row is no small accomplishment,” said Eldorado’s golf coach, Greg Seagraves, noting that very few golfers make it to the state tournament in back-to-back seasons so early in their high school careers. Bronson’s ability to return to the highest level of competition as a sophomore underscores his talent and dedication to the sport. With two more years of high school golf ahead of him, Bronson’s future looks bright, and many are already looking forward to what he will accomplish next on the course.

Exemplary Student-Athlete and Eagle Pride

Beyond his accomplishments on the golf course, Bronson is equally known for his dedication in the classroom and his positive character. His teachers and mentors at Eldorado High School often praise his work ethic and leadership. In fact, Bronson’s excellence is not confined to athletics; school officials have noted that he “exemplifies the true spirit of a student-athlete by balancing his commitment to golf with his academic responsibilities”. He maintains strong grades and demonstrates responsibility, showing that he understands the importance of being a student first even while excelling in sports.

Eldorado High School Principal Cody Cusic expressed how proud the school community is of Bronson’s all-around dedication. “We could not be prouder of Bronson and everything he’s accomplished,” Principal Cusic said. “He puts in countless hours to improve his golf game, all while keeping his grades up and setting a positive example on campus. Bronson is a great kid who truly embodies what it means to be an Eldorado Eagle.”
