Eldorado Community Unit School District #4 is proud to announce a significant investment from Sol Systems, an independent power producer committed to building, owning, and operating domestic clean energy infrastructure that benefits local communities, to help build a new hydroponic house learning lab at Eldorado High School. This funding commitment was celebrated at the ribbon-cutting event for the Eldorado Solar Project on Thursday, September 25th, where members of the project team and the community came together to mark this momentous occasion.

This state-of-the-art facility will provide students with hands-on learning opportunities, academic credit, and pathways to real-world job skills in agriculture, sustainability, and workforce development. The hydroponic house will serve as a cornerstone project of Eldorado’s Vision 2030 strategic plan, which emphasizes safe schools, college and career readiness, and a rigorous, relevant curriculum connected to the community.

“This program will invest in our students for years to come, empower them with hands-on learning, and provide real-world job skills that prepare them for the future,” said Cody Cusic, Superintendent and Principal of Eldorado High School. “Thanks to Sol Systems’ commitment, we are closer than ever to making this vision a reality for our students, families, and community.”

The hydroponic house will allow students to grow fresh fruits and vegetables that will directly benefit both the school cafeteria and the wider Eldorado community. In addition, the project creates opportunities for cross-curricular learning in science, business, and technology while connecting students to the growing agrivoltaics industry through Sol Systems’ solar initiatives in the region.

“The Eldorado Project is about developing energy infrastructure that powers the grid and the local community,” said Yuri Horwitz, CEO of Sol Systems. “Our collaboration with Eldorado High School gives students critical skills they can carry into future careers, including in farming and solar. Supporting programs like this reflects Sol’s mission: building renewable energy projects that strengthen local communities and create long-term impact. Together, we’re showing how clean energy and education can thrive side by side.”

By combining sustainable agriculture, clean energy, and career-focused education, this investment ensures that Eldorado students will be prepared to #LeadTheWay in tomorrow’s workforce.
