Eldorado High School has officially been approved by the Illinois Department of Public Health as a certified site for its own Basic Nurse Assistant Training Program, allowing the school to house and operate the CNA program entirely within the high school building.

This approval marks a significant step forward in expanding hands-on, career-connected learning opportunities for Eldorado students. By hosting the CNA program on-site, Eldorado High School can now provide students with direct access to training that leads to industry certification and employment in the growing healthcare field—all without leaving campus.

The program will be led by Brittany Griffin, Eldorado’s school nurse, who will also serve as the CNA Program Director and Instructor. Her leadership and healthcare expertise will ensure students receive top-tier instruction aligned with industry standards.

This process would not have been possible without the vision and dedication of Rachel Anderson, EHS Guidance Counselor, who played a key role in bringing this program to life. Mrs. Anderson worked closely with the Illinois Department of Public Health to secure program approval and make this opportunity available to students.

“I'm incredibly thankful for the willingness, dedication, and hard work of both Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Griffin,” said Cody Cusic, Interim Superintendent and High School Principal. “Their efforts to get this program approved and in place show just how committed they are to doing what's best for our students. They saw a need, took initiative, and made something truly impactful happen for our school and our community.”

According to recent data, fewer than 80 high schools across Illinois operate their own IDPH-approved CNA training programs—a number that places Eldorado among a forward-thinking group of schools prioritizing workforce readiness through in-house credentialing pathways.

With this addition, Eldorado High School continues its commitment to offering rigorous and relevant experiences that prepare students for life after graduation, whether that path leads to college, technical training, or immediate employment in vital careers right here in our region.
