Board

The Eldorado CUSD #4 School Board consistently upholds its commitment to maintain the lowest possible tax rate for homeowners that reside within Eldorado School District boundaries.  This year’s property tax rates were recently released and our tax rate was 3.96, which is the 3rd lowest tax rate in the history of the Eldorado School District.

It is important to remember there are many factors that go into your final real estate tax bill such as tax rates, property values and assessments, and state multipliers.  The tax rate is the only factor that the school district has the ability to control.  We cannot control your properties assessment or value, which ultimately controls what your tax bill will be.

Our school board’s goal is to consistently maintain the lowest tax rate among Saline County schools, a trend that continues in 2023. Prioritizing the balance between fiscal responsibility and delivering a high-quality education, the Board has successfully kept the school district's tax rate at an admirably low level in comparison to many school districts across the state.

Eldorado Unit #4 has proactively prepared itself to navigate challenging financial climates. The district even experienced a surplus in the last fiscal year. Leveraging the strength of these reserves, the Board has chosen to return this surplus amount to the taxpayers through a tax abatement in March of 2023, a decision made in seven of the last eight years.

In total, Eldorado School District has given back well over $1 million in tax abatements, a testament to its unwavering dedication to fiscal responsibility. Notably, while all school districts in the state of Illinois have the ability to abate taxes, Eldorado Unit #4 stands out as one of the few districts actively returning funds to its taxpayers.
